Hello Lovelies! Over my Summer break, I sure did miss my little crafty and yarny corner of the internet and of course, all of you. So, smoochies and smackers to all of you!!!!!!
My Summer break has been cool and groovy with lots of new inspirations and soul reflections. If you’d like to see some of the craft and crochet I’ve been up to during the Summer, check out my Instagram page, here.
The two months off, is exactly what I needed. I feel rejuvenated and ready to tackle the list of DIY crafts I’ve put off, like the Anthropologie-like hack Door Mats I’ve been wanting to make for, like, forever.
So, crafty friends lets get started . . .
DIY Door Mats
IKEA Sissel Door Mats ( the 1.99 kind)
Black outdoor paint
Letter Stencils
Sponge brushes
Tape
Sealer (spray or paint) – optional
Make It!
Gather your supplies and figure put what you want your mat to say. There alot of clever ideas on Pinterest. Search DIY DoorMat.
Once you know what you want to say, place your mat on a hard table top surface. Tape those letters down on the mat.
Next, with black paint , fill in your letter stencils. I found that a pouncing motion with the sponge brush instead of a brushing motion, worked best.
After lifting the stencil off, I went over the spots that needed a bit more paint.
I was so pleased with how the one for the front entrance of the house came out, I made another for the back entrance to remind those muddy and sandy skippers to wipe their feet.
And, even if they don’t heed the message, I still have a cute door mat made at a fraction of the cost of one from Anthropolgie.
Mine: $5.00
Theirs: $ 38.00
Now, that’s a deal!
x-o,
Mona
