Okay, so I can’t get enough of the new stitch I learned during the Cedar River Crochet Along hosted by Deramores yarn. The corner to corner stitch is pretty fabulous, fun to make and the zig zag rows are so eye-catching.
Well, I decided to make one more of Kat Goldin’s fabulous color blocked C2C squares and turn it into a little zippered pouch for me to carry either the power cords for my laptop, ipad and iphone cords or my makeup.
I haven’t decided yet if I want to be prepared for battery failure or make up face repair. Either way, I’ll have what I need stored neatly in this sweet pouch of a bag. And I added tassels and a pom! Squeeeee!
Crochet It!
Crochet Zipper Pouch
Materials:
Yarn (one main color and four other colors for the diagonal stripes)
7 in or 9 inch sport zipper
Fabric or felt for lining
Tapestry needle
Sewing needle and thread
G Hook
First make one C2C square. Directions for the Cedar River CAL, here.
Here are some pics of how my square came together.
Now, grab a zipper and with a tapestry needle and yarn, stitch a blanket stitch on both sides of zipper.
Place front side of zipper against inside of pouch and with crochet hook join with a sc around.
At each of the corners, you will need to stitch ends in.
With the pouch still inside out, stitch close sides with tapestry needle and yarn.
Keep your pouch inside out and set aside. Cut a piece of fabric or felt large enough for the lining. Stitch sides of lining together . Turn your lining right side out.
Slip the lining over the pouch, which is still inside out. I hope this makes sense and I’m not confusing you, too much.
Grab a sewing needle and thread and sew lining to crochet pouch.
Once lining is sewed on securely, turn the pouch rightside out.
This is how the pouch looks open and almost done.
Since I like pizazz, I decided to add a pom and a few felt tassels to the zipper pull!
You can find directions for the tassels, here. The pom maker I bought at my local craft store.
And there you have it. The fun of the C2C Cedar River CAL never has to end!
Enjoy!
x-o,
Mona
